Woman shot near Anacostia Park swimming pool, homicide unit notified

WASHINGTON, D.C. (7News) — A woman was shot on Saturday night near a swimming pool in Anacostia Park, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and U.S. Park Police (USPP) have confirmed to 7News.

According to MPD, officers were called to the 1800 block of Anacostia Road SE at 9:11 p.m. for a shooting. A woman was found with a gunshot wound, unconscious and breathing.

D.C. Fire and EMS responded and took the woman to a nearby hospital for treatment.

USPP told 7News that their officers responded to the area near the swimming pool in Anacostia Park shortly after MPD at 9:20 p.m. USPP also confirmed the woman was taken to the hospital.

D.C. Police said that due to the woman's condition, their Homicide Unit was notified. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
