Fairfax police increasing security for elected officials after Minnesota assassination

Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) leaders met Saturday morning and decided to enhance security in the neighborhoods of legislators and elected officials following the assassination of a democratic Minnesota lawmaker and his wife.

Officials said the attacks carried out by Vance Boelter, who impersonated a police officer, are not linked to Fairfax County. FCPD advised that "any direct personal contact with elected officials at their homes by FCPD will include two uniformed police officers."
