As the expansive search for Vance Luther Boelter, the suspect in the shooting of two Minnesota lawmakers goes into its second day on Sunday, chilling last text messages from the shooter have come to light.

David Carlson, best friend and roommate of Boelter revealed that Boelter texted around 6 a.m. on Saturday, shortly after former Democratic state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed and Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were shot.

Boelter texted Carlson and another friend saying that he would soon be dead and that he loved them, local outlet, KARE reported.

“David and Ron, I love you guys. I made some choices, and you guys don’t know anything about this, but I’m going to be gone for a while. May be dead shortly, so I just want to let you know I love you guys both and I wish it hadn’t gone this way,” Carlson read from his phone in a video.

“I don’t want to say anything more and implicate you in any way because you guys don’t know anything about this. But I love you guys and I’m sorry for all the trouble this has caused,” the message read.

Carlson called authorities after reading that message, fearing that Boelter may have hurt himself, reports reveal.

The 59-year-old expressed shock that his friend, who he has known since fourth grade, could be involved in such a horrific incident.

“He wasn’t a hateful person,” Carlson said. “But he needed help.”

According to reports from CNN, Carlson shared that Beolter, who was engaged in several ambitious business ventures including Praetorian Security Company and Red Lion Group, was experiencing financial troubles and struggling to find work.

“He was looking around, but maybe things didn’t work out and he just gave up and decided to go out in a blaze of glory,” Carlson said. “I have no idea what he was thinking.”

Boelter lived at the home with Carlson in North Minneapolis just a few days a week, according to the roommate. He was not there at the time offers executed a search warrant of the property on Saturday.

Carlson revealed that Boelter voted for President Donald Trump and was strongly against abortion rights but that he never mentioned any particular issue with the lawmakers who were shot.

“It wasn’t the thing that defined him,” Carlson said. “I mean, it was, wasn’t his total existence. He would talk about other things.”

Boelter has yet to be found and wanted by police who warn Minnesotans that he is still considered armed and dangerous.
