The full "Strawberry Moon" rises Thursday at dusk, casting a rosy glow behind afternoon rain showers.
June's full moon, also known as the "strawberry moon," will be the lowest full moon that has appeared in the night sky in nearly 20 years.
The Griffith Observatory explained that during a major lunar standstill, the moon reaches its most northerly and southerly positions on the horizon.
