Vamos a Madrid! This upcoming season, the Washington Commanders will play in Madrid, Spain.

It'll be a showdown against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, November 16.

This will be the first time Washington plays a regular-season game overseas in almost a decade.

If you've been keeping track, there's a lot of positivity surrounding the franchise right now. It certainly doesn't hurt to have a lot of star power under center in Jayden Daniels.

The young quarterback is helping Washington become a global brand again.

7News Sports Director Scott Abraham spoke with former Packers vice president and current Sports Illustrated columnist Andrew Brandt about the significance of the Commanders playing in Spain.

"The NFL has decided that this is going to be a marquee team. We have the schedule coming out this week, I expect a lot of primetime games and of course the Madrid game in November," Brandt said. "This is a deliberate choice. They want an exciting team with a young quarterback that they can market around because again going to London, going to Berlin and even going to Mexico City, that's been done before. Now, they want to open up in Madrid with this fabulous quarterback and this fabulous scene that they have so it says a lot."

Washington last played across the Atlantic Ocean in October 2016, when it tied the Bengals at Wembley Stadium.
