Heavy rain held off for the most part Saturday, just in time to allow the US Army's 250th Birthday on the National Mall to proceed. A front stalled across the region combined with upper-level energy will allow for heavy rain and storms to develop later tonight.

Showers and storms moving in from the west will bring heavy rain to the metro through about midnight.

Similar to Friday, storms are expected to be slow-moving, which will raise flooding concerns around the DMV. A flood watch has been issued for the area until 11 p.m. Saturday.

Watch out for high water on roads. Heavy rain totals ranging from one to three inches may occur in a short amount of time.

Air quality is in the Code Orange category from increased levels of ozone pollution. An Air Quality Alert is in effect for the District until midnight.

Sunday's forecast calls for lower temperatures in the low 70s with on and off rain. Heat and humidity eventually builds by the middle of next week.
