ASHBURN, Va. (7News) — Once again, the Commanders wide receiver, Terry McLaurin, was a no show for the start of mandatory minicamp at team headquarters in Ashburn. He also missed the previous two weeks of voluntary OTA sessions.
It's pretty straight forward, McLaurin is seeking a contract extension.
Players who skip mandatory minicamp practices are subject to fines, per the collective bargaining agreement. If McLaurin skips all three days, he will be fined a total of $104,768.
"Sometimes football and business intersect. This is one of those times," Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said. "Let them work through that."

McLaurin skipped minicamp in 2022 as well when he was seeking a new contract. He signed a three-year, $68.2 million extension a few weeks later, but now is entering the final year of that deal.
McLaurin is coming off his most productive season, after playing with the best quarterback of his six-year career in Jayden Daniels.
Last season, McLaurin had a career-best 13 touchdown receptions with 82 catches for 1,096 yards.
McLaurin, a two-time Pro Bowler, turns 30 in September, meaning this could be his last chance to maximize his earning power.
