ASHBURN/7NEWS — Protecting Jayden Daniels was clearly a big priority this offseason for the Washington Commanders.
It's a big reason why they traded for left tackle Laremy Tunsil.
The 10-year NFL veteran has started in all 125 games he has appeared in and is a five-time Pro Bowler.
Over the last couple of days in minicamp, Tunsil has acclimated himself to a new locker room and new culture. He's also taken some time to get to know his new quarterback, Jayden Daniels.
"I try to get as close to him as I can. That's a quarterback, that's someone I have to protect," Tunsil said. "Trying to put my life on the line for him. He's a baller."
Tunsil will be locking down the left side of the Washington offensive line. He's the tackle. He's the one protecting the blind side of Daniels.
When asked about his thoughts on the O-line, Tunsil referred to them as "dogs." He even singled out first-round draft pick Josh Conerly Jr.
"Just the way he moves, the way he bends," Tunsil said about Conerly's ability. "He has all the tools to be a good player in this league."
Tunsil and the rest of his Commanders teammates are now on summer break. Everybody will return to Ashburn in late July for the start of training camp.
